Upserve began our journey as Swipely in 2009, and set our sights on helping businesses make better decisions with data. As we grew, it became apparent that the majority of our customers were restaurants. With this realization, we pivoted to Upserve, acquiring Breadcrumb POS in 2016 and building a true one stop shop for restaurateurs to run their businesses seamlessly while driving decisions through data. Upserve became the premiere hospitality solution for restaurateurs who wanted their systems and data to work harder for them while retaining crucial information about guest preferences, purchase habits and more to drive business decisions through data.
In 2020, Upserve announced that it had been acquired by Lightspeed. Over the following years, Upserve continued to serve independent restaurants across the U.S., building on the reputation it had earned for reliable POS technology paired with meaningful data insights.
In 2026, Skyview Equity acquired Upserve. We’re excited to build upon our 17+ year history and will be growing the product going forward.
