TROUBLESHOOTING

These tips may help you deal with Spammunition-related issues.

Why doesn't Spammunition check any read mail for spam? It only checks unread mail.
This is by design. It assumes that if you've already opened a mail item, it's not spam. It's much faster this way. You really wouldn't want it to check ALL the mail in your inbox each time you receive new mail, right? That doesn't make sense. So it just checks the new stuff. And remember, you can easily set a piece of mail to unread by right-clicking and choosing "Mark as Unread." That will get Spammunition to analyze something again if you like.

While sending mail, I got an error message saying "Outlook could not complete the task due to a network or communication error"
That error is caused by Norton Antivirus, and McAfee Virusscan, and lots of other antivirus programs that interface into Outlook. Unfortuntely it's the email virus-scanning feature that causes it. I'm trying to find a workaround. I'll post something to the site when I do.

Spammunition doesn't load when Outlook starts (no toolbar)
Assuming Spammunition is installed, try this:
Start Outlook and go to Tools | Options | Other | Advanced | COM Add-ins.
Spammunition most likely will not be listed. If it's not listed, click ADD and add the file:
\program files\spammunition\spammunition.dll.
Then close Outlook. (When closing Outlook, you need to make sure it isn't in memory -- go to task manager and look at the processes. If Outlook.exe is there, kill it.)
Then start Outlook. If you still don't see any trace of Spammunition, email me about it.

Manually uninstalling Spammunition
If the uninstaller didn't work, here's how to manually uninstall:
1) Open Outlook and go to Tools | Options | Other Tab | Advanced Options | COM Add-ins.
Remove Spammunition from the list.
2) Close Outlook and all Outlook windows like emails, contacts, etc.
3) Go to task manager and make sure that outlook.exe is not running in the processes. If it is, terminate it.
4) Open a command prompt and go to your \program files\spammunition directory.
5)type:
regsvr32 /u Spammunition.dll
regsvr32 /u SpammunitionMods.dll
You should get a success message after doing both of these.
If you are running Windows 98 or WinME, you may need to type the full path to regsvr32, which is /windows/system/regsvr32.exe.
6) Delete the entire directory Spammunition directory
(if you are unable to delete some files because they are in use by another process, just reboot your machine and try to delete them again.)
7) Run RegEdit and DELETE the entire Registry Key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Spammunition
BE CAREFUL!! Modifying the registry is very dangerous if done incorrectly! If you screw up, it's not my fault!
8) All done. Spammo will be gone.
